Iris Garden at the Library

One of Ben's favorite things to do is visit the East Branch public library with Mommy. In June, the colorful iris garden is in full glory!

luscious lilacs

The lilac bush outside our front door exploded, and I couldn't be happier.

The smell of lilac blooms is a scent I cherish. It reminds me of childhood days spent playing in my backyard and lazy summer afternoons laying in bed reading with a fragrant bouquet on my nightstand. As a teenager, my parents divorced and my brother and I moved into an apartment with my mother. We no longer had a lilac bush. I became a lilac thief, walking home from school with a pair of scissors in my backpack poised to snip blooms off of other people's lilac bushes.

Now, for the first time in my adult life, there are lilacs on my nightstand again.
