a dream come true

As much as the twos really are terrible, I must say I am loving this age! Bree is so wonderful, and she reminds me of just how wonderful she is with every new day. Here are some of the things I am especially enjoying:

-How she asks if she can have something, and then right away answers herself. Juice mommy? Okay! Outside? Okay! Birthday cake for breakfast? Okay!

-When she sings. Sometimes it's in the car, sometimes the tub. I never can predict it but I always love to hear it.

-Bree makes animal noises. My favorites are pink piggy and owl noises.

-She loves to read! How precious it is to read together with my daughter. I love it when she reads the story to me.

-Talking. She is just learning to talk and every time she uses a new word it amazes me. The other day I asked her if she was ready. Ready? She said, set.... GO!

-When she says, "Weeee!"

-Counting. "Nine, two, six, nine, nine, nine." I think I will be disappointed when she starts counting the right way, though I'm sure her teachers will prefer that someday.

-The spontaneous hugs and kisses she gives to daddy and I. Those rock.

I love this age! Sure there are hard parts to having a two year old, but the good things far outweigh the bad. I am realizing that she is not going to be this age for long, and that I'd better appreciate each and every part of it because she is growing and changing so fast.

My teacher friend Marika found this poem:

If I Could Teach You, Teacher

If I could teach you, teacher,
I’d teach you how much more
you have accomplished
than you think you have.
I’d show you the seeds
you planted years ago
that are now coming into bloom.
I’d reveal to you the young minds
that have expanded under your care,
the hearts that are serving others
because they had you as a role model.
If I could teach you, teacher,
I’d show you the positive effect
you have had on me and my life.

to acknowledge it, to believe it.
