Bree's Valentine

He is still not allowed to go into her room without major drama, but this year Ben was the recipient of a school-made valentine from his sister.

Bree gets to ski!

Here are some pictures from Bree's very first time skiing! Lucky girl - she got to spend an evening in Breckenridge with her Daddy and a day in ski school. What a beautiful blue bird day it was, too. Bree says she can't wait to go back to ski school.

understatement

"Who knew this little family would be such hard work?" - Dan

Lately our days have felt crazy and overwhelming. Two kiddos, both demanding our complete attention, on top of our work obligations and simple, but never ending tasks such as dishes and laundry make for two exhausted parents. Sometimes, I hate to admit, short-tempered parents. So add guilt to the mix and it can be hard to know why we are doing all of this.

Here's why... 2 little moments that make the chaos called our lives all worth it.

Bree:
The other night Bree fell asleep on the couch and woke up while I carried her in to her bed. She asked for a story. I am a sucker for a story, so I pulled out The Kissing Hand by Audrey Penn. Bree was too tired to whine, instead we had stumbled upon her sweet time, and boy can that girl be a sweetheart when conditions are right!  In the book, a little raccoon heads off to school for the first time and is scared to leave his mom. Momma raccoon teaches him a little trick, she kisses the palm of his hand and tells him he will keep his kiss with him always, and when he misses her he can hold his hand up to his cheek and know she is with him. That cute little raccoon, he realizes towards the end that momma raccoon needs the kiss just as much as he does, so he gives her one, too! As we sat together in Bree's bed we exchanged kisses in the palms of our hands. When Bree finally gave in to dreamland, her eyes fluttering closed and her breathing steady, I sat and watched her sleep and thought about how lucky I am to be her mother. My girl. My sweet girl.

Ben:
Tonight our family of four sat together on the couch while the Superbowl played on in the background. We were going to try to watch, but of course the kids had other ideas and there was lots of wresting and teasing and cuddling happening instead. At one point our one year old  Ben decided he was going to tickle Daddy. He snuggled up next to Daddy and said something that sounded like "tickle tickle!" while reaching over with two hands and tickling his belly. Well, Daddy, Mommy and Bree couldn't help but laugh at this bit of cuteness - which encouraged Ben to keep at it and tickle Daddy some more! Belly laughs from the four of us were a great way to end our evening. Silly Ben!

Go Tigers!

Bree and Logan went with their daddies to a CC hockey game. They had such a good time, Bree needed a nap!
