Ben is 5 months old!

On September 17, 2010 Baby Ben had a birthday! Five months old and he is beginning to sit up on his own, with a bit of support. He is a talkative little guy and sometimes is very loud - already giving big sister Bree a run for her money in that department. Ben rolls over onto his belly and is content for a little while. He then screams for someone to save him. Mommy will be glad when he realizes he can roll over the other way, too. No sign of any teeth yet, but there is plenty of drooling and everything he gets his hands on must be tasted. He loves his feet. Someone (I can't remember who) gave us foot rattles which make him very happy! Baby boy is still a snuggly one. He enjoys being held and is starting to wiggle and squirm more, making diaper changes more of a challenge. He loves to laugh! He giggles when we make noises at him or blow on his belly. No one can make him laugh as much as his sister does when she makes funny faces at him. Benjamin is finally understanding that the rice cereal mommy puts in his mouth is for swallowing, not spitting at her. Every day brings new changes at this age. We often wish for a pause button!

August, 2010

August was a great month for us! Mommy went back to work so blogging was put on hold. Here are some pictures from August, 2010 - finally!

I love

"Mom, I love the trees. And I love the bushes. And the flowers. And rocks, sticks, grass, and ants. And the blue sky. I want to give them a hug."

She is so my daughter!

Cheeseburger in Paradise

Dan and Bree are loving New York so much that they are spending a lot of time there. The two of them went back to Montauk in August to spend more time with Cousin Joe and Aunt Hedy. Talk of a famous person in town, Jimmy Buffet, proved to be true when they ran into him on the beach! Dan has a few of Jimmy's greatest hits CDs in the car which he and Bree listen to on a regular basis. She wasn't too interested in meeting him but when Dan told her he sang the cheeseburger song she agreed to a picture. Well, sort of. Jimmy said, "Anything for a mermaid!"

Bree meets the guy that sings that cheeseburger song...

Long Island Game Farm

chicken face!

When Dan was little his mom would take him to visit the Long Island Game Farm. He has fond memories of those trips. While Daddy went to watch the Yankees play in the Bronx, Ben, Bree and Mommy fed some cute animals! Hands down Bree's favorite were the baby ducks.

Long Island's North Fork

"Mommy Daddy look - a jellyfish!"

Yes, I'm still blogging about the family vacation we took back in JULY! Going back to work as a mom of two is interfering with my internet time. Anyhow, one of our vacation days was spent driving up to Long Island's North Fork for lunch and a bit of sight-seeing. Sunflowers were in full bloom at the wineries, and Bree tried super hard to grab a ring on the carousel. She just wasn't quite big enough this year, but next time we visit that carousel those rings are hers. We stopped at the dock and Bree discovered jellyfish floating in the water. Good thing we weren't swimming here!!

yes - this is a big duck

more from our vacation - a beautiful summer day with friends

What's better than a full day at the beach with friends? Having a pizza delivered to the beach!
We had a superb Saturday in Montauk with our friends and their kids. Beach day, followed by a barbecue in Sue's beautiful back yard. Baby Ben enjoyed the garden, and the kids enjoyed good food, good company, and S'mores for desert!
