Easter 2012

The day before Easter we ran into a familiar face at the grocery store! This familiar face left treats at our house that night...

Which made for two very excited kiddos in the morning. There were eggs hidden all over the house, and boy did these kids find candy galore! Mommy about fell over when she heard Daddy say, "It's Easter, eat all the candy you want today!" Well, the kids did not need to hear that twice...

Mommy wasn't sure which idea was better, to eat it all at once and get it done with or spread the candy out and have it in the house longer? She may decide to petition the Easter bunny next year with requests for books and clothes instead of candy. Later that day cousin Eva came over and the kids had an outdoor egg hunt.

On Bree's 100th birthday

On Bree's 100th birthday this time capsule will be opened. It was dedicated the day she was born.  Bree and I were visiting Grandma at the hospital when we (literally) stumbled upon it. It got me doing all kinds of thinking. Wondering what is in it, and wondering if anyone in our family (or even Bree herself?) might be present the day it is opened 95 years from now. You hear that, future family? Get over there and represent Bree on April 25, 2107!

Two Pretty Princesses

Disney on Ice returned to our area, and Bree and Violet were excited to get in on the fun! Our seats were fantastic. I enjoyed sitting next to Bree and listening to her cheer "Wooo hooo!" when the skaters did something impressive. Such a wonderful, engaging event for our imaginations.

Snow Day = Eggscellent!

We had a snow day last week, and with all of the things going on Mommy had been wondering when we would find time for our favorite egg-coloring activity, so the snow day was the perfect answer! Bree enjoyed putting stickers on the eggs this year and has been eating them for snack.

You know those plastic egg decorating cups that they sell now, the ones that are conveniently color-coded so that you know what color you are dipping in? I'm always tempted to buy them until I realize that one of my favorite parts of this whole tradition is pulling the assortment of coffee cups out of the cupboard . It reminds me of how we did it when I was a kid.

Rubber bands are fun easter egg decorating tools. Too bad Mommy could only find one in the entire house. Next year! Next year will also be a new adventure because baby brother Ben will be old enough to join in on the fun.

Happy Easter!
The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own. No apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on, or blame. The gift is yours. It is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it.

This is the day your life really begins.

Denver Zoo

Over Spring Break we decided to head up to the Denver Zoo with the kids and some friends. Who knew we were bringing the whiner and the terror along for the day? It turned out to be one of those trips were mommy and daddy didn't have much fun, but hey, we tried! This is the only picture we managed to get because most of our time was spent chasing Ben and keeping him from disappearing into the crowd. The polar bears are one of our favorite exhibits at the DZ!

mani and pedi

What a lucky girl Bree was this spring break! She got to spend an afternoon at Aunt Carolyn's house getting a professional pedicure and manicure. Super excited, Bree chose her own clothes to wear. The colors in her mermaid dress were about to be applied to her fingers and toes! Bree was (mostly) patient throughout the process and in the end even got to have a snack of homemade popcorn. She chose flowers for her blue-green toes and a pretty purple for her fingers, which mommy decided to use on her toes.
